Catalogue Note
Articella was the name given to the early printed editions of a variety of Galenic and Hippocratic texts which formed the basis of lectures at the medical school of Salerno in the twelfth century and, eventually, most of the medical faculties of Europe. The second edition, Venice 1483 (Goff A1143), contained the first appearance in print of the Hippocratic oath.
