Catalogue Note

Between 1920 and 1926 Wittgenstein taught at various village schools in Lower Austria. The present notes date from 1924 during the philosopher's time teaching ten and eleven-year-olds in the village of Puchberg. If the fact of Wittgenstein's teaching in the provinces has seemed to some rather implausible, his lesson notes here do at any rate breathe a certain dispassionate quality, one highly characteristic of their author.
