12 volumes, folio (332 x 265mm.), copy no.396 of an edition of 4765 printed on vélin pur chiffon de Rives, 100 wood engraved plates after watercolours by Dali, printed in colour by Raymond Jaquet, one of 515 copies with both an extra suite of 100 colour plates and six separate suites of plates each showing the colour composition of a single image, loose as issued in cream patterned paper portfolios and slipcases

Dali was commissioned in 1951 to illustrate this French translation of the Divina commedia to celebrate the 700th anniversary of Dante's birth.
