Catalogue Note
Stanislas Lépine (1835-1892) was an obscure French landscape painter who died on 29 September 1835, in such poverty, that his friends and family had to raise funds to pay for his funeral. Henri Rouart was a collector who knew Lépine and had acquired some of his paintings.
