- Three autograph love-letters to the soprano Rose Ader, signed ("Muckilissimo" and "tuo povero Giacomo")

recalling the "delicious two weeks" that they spent together in Rome, and asking her to attend a premiere in Bologna, where he could visit her in her hotel room, declaring that being with her makes him feel young and courageous, whereas being without her he feels old; Puccini predicts every success for her performance in Suor Angelica, wishes her an enjoyable stay in Palermo and relays the producer Schnabl's reports of the fine singing of Maria Jeritza ("...Come io rimpiango i 15 giorni deliziosi passati a Roma con te...tu mi dai coraggio in tutto--con te vicina mi pare d'esser giovane e te lontana la vita mi pesa e mi sento vecchio......ti bacio la bocca mia divina..."), 6 pages, 4to, two autograph envelopes, printed stationery, Viareggio and Milan, 18 October 1921-25 March 1922

Catalogue Note
Puccini fell in love with Rose Ader in February 1921, when he saw her singing the title role in Suor Angelica in Hamburg. These unpublished letters make plain that they had a physical affair and not just a platonic relationship, as biographers have assumed.
