Catalogue Note

A fine autograph of a complete song, a setting of Heine's poem 'Hör ich das Liedchen klingen' (the opening words of which altered here by Meyerbeer to "...das Lied erklingen..."). The words were set by a number of composers, including by Grieg, but perhaps most famously by Schumann in his Dichterliebe, Op.48, cycle. Formerly from the collection of Charlotte Moscheles, and never before offered at auction.
