Catalogue Note
Mendelssohn married Cécile Jeanrenaud on 28 March 1837 (their first son was born on 7 February 1838). Mendelssohn eventually travelled to London in late August, as promised, and conducted St Paul at Birmingham on 19 to 22 September. Karl Klingemann was a life-long friend in the diplomatic service in London, where Moscheles was also resident.
