Catalogue Note

Rare: we have traced no copy of any edition of Dupont's work appearing at auction, and none is held by British libraries.  "His Principes de musique is valuable for its systematic exposition of the French performing practice called notes inégales." (TNG).  There are also examples of ornamentation (agréments).  The present edition is apparently unrecorded, although it dates from the same year as the first edition by Boivin & Le Clerc.  Foucault published Dupont's Principes de violin, also in 1718.
