Bernstein, Leonard. Two autograph letters signed ("Lenny"), to Victor Alpert, and a correction leaf: the letters about the performance of a mass in 1956, discussing the use of an organ, the use of violas in a work by Prokofiev (possibly Romeo & Juliet), asking Alpert ("you doll") if his two rehearsals can be arranged for Friday ("...I can afford very little time off from Candide..."); the correction leaf written in pencil on a hand-drawn stave with rehearsal numbers, instrumentation and title ("Movmt Finale"), and annotated on the verso in another hand ("...Pastorale 1972"), together with a typescript thank-you poem, initialled by Bernstein, 5 pages, 16mo and large 8vo, two envelopes, postmarked, with two New Year's cards, Vineyard Haven and New York, 1956-[1988]; Copland, Aaron. Two correction leaves (for the First Symphony and Inscape), one inscribed with an autograph letter about the corrections, signed ("A.C."): the letter explaining that changes are "not needed until Wed. morning" and asking Alpert to reserve for him the "large score of the Schuman Tryptich", which he "MUST HAVE" to conduct from; the typed corrections comprising six alterations to the harp and trumpet parts of the First Symphony, 1 page, 4to ( 28 x 21.5cm), with an autograph envelope, postmarked Ossining, NY, 24 December 1959; the second correction leaf, for Inscape, inscribed by Copland at the head ("List of Corrections to be placed in the Masters of the Orchestral Parts"), comprising a tabular list of 42 alterations and additions, some in musical notation, including a two-part chord notated on a hand-drawn stave, 2 pages, folio (c.32 x 20cm), ruled paper, c.1967
