Catalogue Note
First edition of one of the most important French illustrated books of the twentieth century.
The Bestiaire was at once Apollinaire's first published collection of poems and Dufy's first, and arguably most important, illustrated book. Although the two did not collaborate again, Dufy illustrated the posthumous Le poète assassiné, published in 1926 to commemorate the eighth anniversary of Apollinaire's death.
