Catalogue Note
Rare second edition of this Dutch guide to foreign exchange rates, originally published in French as Soulagement pour les marchands, de reduction de changes (Amsterdam, 1663). According to the author the guide was intended to protect merchants from the abuses to which ignorance of exchange rates left them open.
Both author and publisher were members of the Portuguese Jewish community of Amsterdam; Sarfatti Pina financed the printing of prayerbooks in Spanish and Hebrew and David de Crasto Tartaz issued at least sixty-six Hebrew and Yiddish titles between 1662 and 1695.
