Catalogue Note
Mozart's autograph of "Komm, lieber Mai" (1791) is lost and Haberkamp records only four copies of the contemporary first edition. The first part of this manuscript, probably dating from 1800-1820, contains around 30 late eighteenth-century songs and part-songs, some not published before the 1830s. These early pieces are by Zachariae ("Lebensgenuß"), Reichardt ("Morgengesang im Frühlinge" and "Das Mädchen aus dem Ferne"), J.H. Rolle ("Lobgesang am Morgen"), J.P.A. Schulz ("An die Natur" and "Willst du frei und lustig gehn"), Mozart ("Komm, lieber Mai"), Johann André ("Da lächelt nun wieder") , August Harder ("Abendsehnsucht"), Kallenbach ("Jetzt und Sonst"), Hurka ("Der Sänger"), Gurlich ("Vaterlandsliebe"), B.A. Weber ("Auf, lasst uns singen"), Naumann ("So schliesst euch nun"); together with unattributed arrangements, including "Maylied" [Nägeli?], "An die Geliebte" [A. Kretschmer?], "Zwischen den Rochen", "Gieb mir die Blumen", "Beyglückt durch dich", "Wenn aus deinen sanften Blicken", "Du mit dem trüben Blicke", "Soldatenleben", "Der Wanderer", "Die Vollendung", "Immer sind der Freuden auf der Ende", "Abendlied", "Thirza", "Jägerlied" and others.
