Catalogue Note

Eduard Speyer (1839-1934) was the husband of Antonia Kufferath, one of Brahms's favourite sopranos.  He was a keen collector and friend of Brahms, Clara Schumann and Elgar, remembered in his book My Life & Friends (1937).
