Description

  • David Webb
  • 18 karat gold, emerald, ruby, diamond, cultured pearl, necklace
The six-strand necklace of graduated design composed of tumbled emerald beads, accented by fluted gold spheres and carved ruby beads, supporting pendants set with cultured pearls measuring approximately 14.6 to 11.5 mm., and fluted ruby beads, set throughout with round diamonds weighing approximately 6.75 carats, length 20 inches, signed Webb.

Condition

The emeralds are a slightly bluish-green, translucent with visible inclusions. There are some color variations from light to medium in tone. The rubies are opaque and a deep reddish-purplish pink hue with some visibly mottling. The emeralds and rubies have some fissures and cavities resulting from inclusions breaking the surface, typical of this type of decorative material. The pearls are white with good luster, some pitting visible to the undaided eye. The diamonds appear to be G-H color and VS-SI clarity. The necklace has good heft. Overall good condition. Signature appears on the prong side of the clasp.
