Set with a square-shaped black opal measuring approximately 18.7 by 18.7 mm., supporting a pear-shaped cabochon black opal measuring approximately 24.3 by 17.1 by 9.4 mm., accented by old European-cut and single-cut diamonds weighing approximately 3.25 carats, and carved onyx segments, signed Cartier, numbered 5649B, French assay mark.

Condition

Set with 53 old European-cut and single-cut diamonds approximately I-J color and SI clarity. The black opals have intense play of color; the lower drop with more violet, blue and purple, and the upper rectangle with more green, blue and violet colors. 3 of the onyx segments have been replaced with chalcedony of light brown hue. In good condition. Signed Cartier on rim of right lobe (facing) and numbered on rim of lower left side of rectangle (facing).
