Catalogue Note

"This impressive "Dove of Peace" brooch was designed by Juliette Moutard after an idea of Germaine Boivin, for an important American client who had also commissioned on the 28th September 1938, the brooch "Bucrane" and a brooch "Conque" decorated with a mermaid. Due to the outbreak of the war the client never took possession of the jewel, which was subsequently sold to another client in 1945.

In its original form, the dove held in its beak a heart pavé-set with diamonds and surrounded by an emerald olive branch. Boivin removed this detail from the brooch before it was sold in 1945.

The brooch, a unique piece, is published in F. Cailles "René Boivin Joaillier ". Editions de l'Amateur. Paris 1994, page 80."
