Important Mémoire où la dispersion de la lumière est expliquée selon la théorie ondulatoire ; complétant ainsi les travaux de Fresnel sur le même sujet. L'ouvrage est publié à Prague, où Cauchy (1789-1867) avait été appelé en 1833, pour diriger l'éducation scientifique du duc de Bordeaux alors en exil.
