The panel is in very good condition considering its age. The painted panel displays an aged surface that is moderately soiled especially on the pinstriped and white background panel. Some of the seams on the sides of the white panel are slightly open as a result of dimensional changes in the wood. The edges of the white background panel are slightly worn with nicks in the wood evident throughout the panel. The black pinstripe lines are crisp and legible. Four small consecutive diagonal scratches were noted in the black pinstriped panel midway up the panel. A 5" long faint white scuff was noted on the bottom corner of the large black square. Other faint tiny scuffs were seen on the black square when viewed closely, which resulted from the white wires coming in contact with the black panel. A small scuff mark was observed in the middle of the white panel. The paint in general is in very good condition and tightly bound. The white painted wires show minor losses and tiny spots of corrosion. All of the suspended wires are accounted for and the panel is structurally sound.
