Condition
The canvas is not lined. There are a few small studio stains on the reverse. Minor rubbing is visible to the extreme lower right corner, otherwise some bare edges of the canvas are visible but this appears to have been the artist's intention. Under UV light: the varnish layer fluoresces unevenly throughout. There are several scattered pin dot retouches in the upper right quadrant. There is a nail head sized spot of inpainting three inches above the double-s in the signature and one small stroke below the horse's front hoof near the lower right corner. Also, a few small pin dots of retouching above the center of the left edge and two small strokes in the area of thick pigment just to the left of the figure's forehead. Otherwise fine, the work is in very good condition.
