The canvas is not lined. There are a few small areas of retouching, including one to the right of the sphinx's head, a few to the background surrounding the main figure, and to the figure's left arm and ear. These retouchings are visible under UV light. There is some light horizontal craquelure, mainly to the upper half of the figure and to the thicker pigments in the frieze. Otherwise, this work is in good condition. Colours: Overall fairly accurate in the printed catalogue, although slightly warmer in the original.
