Condition

The canvas is unlined. There is a slight layer of uneven varnish preventing the UV light from fully penetrating and there appear to be no signs of retouching visible under UV light. There is some light surface dirt towards the upper right corner. Otherwise, this work is in very good condition. Colours: Fairly accurate in the printed catalogue, although the tones are slightly warmer in the original.

Catalogue Note

'The mystery of colour, light, brilliance and all the magic of painting is to my mind the most complicated and magic art there is'.
