Condition

The canvas is not lined. recto: There appear to be some areas of retouching mainly to the sky and to the right of the figure group, all visible under UV light. There is some overall surface dirt. verso: There appear to be some areas of retouching, mainly towards the lower left edge and towards the centre of the shoreline, all visible under UV light. There is a 1 by 0.2cm. paint loss towards the lower left edge. This work is in good condition. Colours (recto): Overall fairly accurate in the printed catalogue, although slightly more subtle in the original. Colours (verso): More vibrant in the original than in the printed catalogue.
