Catalogue Note
Willy Eisenschitz was born and raised in Vienna where he began his education in fine art. In 1912 he moved to Paris to continue his studies and was greatly influenced by the post-impressionists, particularly Gauguin and Cezanne.
He moved to the South of France for his health, eventually settling in Minimes, a small spa town near Toulon on the Mediterranean coast. It was from there that he ranged the countryside in search of good views to paint. Among his best works are brilliantly colored landscapes such as the present work.
