- AN 18K PINK GOLD OPEN-FACED KEYLESS WATCH WITH BARREL-LESS WINDINGCIRCA 1910
- yellow gold
- diameter 51.5 mm
• gilt lever movement, precision regulator, patented stem winding system with the mainspring around the winding shaft • white enamel dial, Arabic numerals, subsidiary seconds • plain polished case • case maker's initials AM, dial and movement signed
Condition
The movement is not winding as the spring to the shaft is broken, the balance is rotating freely when power is applied to the train. There is a slight chip to the dial at 4 o'clock. The hinged cuvette is lacking the glass cover. The glass to the cover has a chip inside at 9 o'clock. There are heavy scuffs throughout the case.
The movement is stamped with the Swiss patent numbers 5019 & 14528.

Catalogue Note
Isaac Grasset Cie, as mentioned in "Le Dictionnaire des Horlogers Genevois", patented the helicoidal spring with the Swiss Patent No. 5019 and 14528 as shown on the present example, most probably made on special request with its gold case. This new invention was also presented at the 1896 National Exhibition in Geneva.
