• gorge case with grooved columns and base, glazed flat top over the platform lever escapement, glazed case, strike selection on base • white enamel dial with Roman hours, subsidiary alarm dial below • both within gilt engraved mask, large bell striking • maker's mark punched on the back plate, retailer signed on the dial

Condition

Dial with wear to signature, case with minor surface wear, movement running but requires cleaning and overhaul, key not included, striking particularly beautiful, great example.

Catalogue Note

Pierre, and his son Alfred, Drocourt, along with Henri Jacot, and François-Arsène Margaine, were the best makers of carriage clocks in the second part of the 19th century. The retailer of the clock, Victor Fleury, was one of the leading Parisian makers of precision regulators.
