Description
- A SILVER, IVORY AND ENAMEL DECORATIVE DESK TIMEPIECELATE 19TH CENTURY
- Silver, ivory, enamel
- height 6 1/2 in (16.5 cm)
• the timepiece housed within a silver and champlevé pagoda-style case mounted on the back of an ivory elephant • the elephant with silver and champlevé enameled covering, led by a robbed attendant set with gem stones • all raised on a lapis lazuli ground and silver quadrangular base decorated with champlevé‚ enamel foliate motif
Condition
The movement has been altered, is not running and will need extensive repair. The plates are pitted, dirty and oxidized. There is some loss of detail to the numerals, the hinge that connects the movement/dial to the pagoda needs a new pin and is not secured. Much of the enamel decoration has been re-done and/or touched up, there is loss of enamel in areas - particular to the upper right side of the pagoda. The ivory elephant and silver figure are in good condition.
