Catalogue Note

With an Extract from the Archives confirming sale on November 23rd, 1962.

The present example is the product of the celebrated collaboration between Gilbert Albert and Patek Philippe. The jewelry designer's modern aesthetic and proclivity for asymmetric lines is perfectly illustrated in this model.

For a note on Gilbert Albert, see Reardon, J, Patek Philippe in America, p. 170. For examples of similar prototype watches, see Huber, M. & Banbery, A., Patek Philippe, Vol. II, Second Edition, p. 155.

The Serpico Y Laino retailer's marks on the present example are clearly visible on the case. This esteemed Venezuelan retailer catered to the elite of Caracas, and sold some of the finest watches by Patek Philippe in the 1940s and 1950s.
