- A FINE AND RARE PAIR OF COMPLEMENTARY SILVER-GILT ENAMEL AND PEARL CENTER SECONDS WATCHES MADE FOR THE CHINESE MARKETCIRCA 1860 NO 256
- Silver-gilt metal, enamel
- diameters 54 mm
• identically numbered gilt-metal 'Chinese Calibre' movements with bridges engraved overall with scrolls, large bi-metallic compensation balance, glazed cuvettes • white enamel dials, Roman numerals • bezels, pendant and bow set with seed pearls, the cases polychrome enameled with a complementary pair of lion hunt scenes depicting a turbaned hunter on a rearing horse shooting a lion with another hunter in the foreground and elephant in the back ground within a palm tree festooned landscape
Condition
both enamel panels are of high quality and in very good condition with the exception of insignificant abrasions to the surfaces, both in running order, and both could use some cosmetic attention , the dials also appear to be in good order, very unusual to find a pair and highly reccomend

The Chinese characters inscribed on the watch are the phonetic translation of Bovet into Chinese, pronounced "Bo Wei".
