- A LOT OF FOUR WRISTWATCHES CIRCA 1925-1950
- Silver, stainless steel, yellow gold, alligator
- diameters for the first and second: 35 mm, 32 mm, lengths for the third and fourth: 51.5 mm, 43.5 mm
• all with: manual winding movements • the first: 18K gold case, case, dial and movement signed IWC • the second: silver case, screw-down bezel, case signed Rolex, dial signed Rolwatco, movement signed James Walker Admirality • the third: Curvex movement, two-tone dial, case, dial and movement signed Gruen • the fourth: dial with aperture for jump hours, case, dial and movement signed Gruen
Condition
The first: The balance is oscillating, but the movement will need to be cleaned and serviced. The dial is in clean, original condition. The case has some light scratches to the opening. The facets to the lugs are well preserved and show no signs of having been over-polished. The movement is IWC caliber 89. The case is numbered 1227677. The watch includes an associated pink gilt clasp.
The second: The balance is oscillating, but the movement will need to be cleaned and serviced. The dial is dirty and with some scratches and spotting, but appears to be original. The case has slight scratches, but is in very well preserved condition. This watch is a very early example by Rolex. The case is numbered 896, signed Rolex and stamped WD. The dial is signed ROLWATCO and the movement is signed James Walker Admirality.
The third: The balance is oscillating, but the movement will need to be cleaned and serviced. The dial has small spots throughout and some loss of finish to the edges. The case show has light scratches and general wear. The gilt finish to the inside of the case back is partially faded, revealing the base metal underneath. The case is numbered 6030046, 330 and 292. The movement is numbered 515293.
The fourth: The balance is oscillating, but the movement will need to be cleaned and serviced. The dial has been nicely re-finished. There is some loss of finish where the case meets the dial, only visible when removed from the case. There is some minor pitting to the edges of the stainless steel case. There is some very small loss of steel to underside of the bottom lugs. The case is numbered 202940. The movement is stamped GRUEN GUILD, and is numbered 1958744.
