The movement is running at the time of cataloguing, however it may require service soon. The calendar correctors are functioning, however they do stick and it would likely benefit from a service. The numbers between the lugs are 6062 and 942644, and the reference number 6062 is also on the inside of the case back. The receipt from Bucherer lists the sale at 590 CHF, and the guarantee has the serial number 942622 in pencil. As visible in the catalogue and described in the note, the dial has been refinished during service. The case shows scuffs from wear and some pitting.

The present lot is being offered on behalf of the original owner, who purchased the watch at Bucherer on June 29th, 1954. It is accompanied by the original Guarantee and receipt, as well as the US Customs form from the owner's re-entry from abroad.

Ref. 6062 is one of only two models that Rolex produced with moon-phases, the other model being Ref. 8171. The two models differ in their case construction, with the present model having a screw-down case back, rather than the snap back of Ref. 8171. Furthermore, Ref. 6062 has a more pronounced tonneau rather than circular form.
