• cal. 72 manual winding nickel lever movement, 17 jewels • reprinted silvered dial, applied faceted square indexes, engine-turned subsidiary dials indicating constant seconds, 12-hour and 30-minute register, apertures for day and month, outer ring calibrated for date with corresponding hand • raised bezel, two calendar correctors and two round chronograph pushers to either side of the band, screw-down crown, screw-down back • case, dial and movement signed • stainless steel Rolex Oyster bracelet

Condition

The inside of the case back is numbered 6236 as well as between the lugs. The serial numbers between the lugs are 576430. The movement is running at the time of cataloguing, however it may require service soon. The chronograph is functioning, however it clears to just before the 12 o'clock point and will require service to function correctly. The calendar correctors are functioning correctly. The dial has been reprinted which is evident in the fonts used as well as the placement of the 31 in the date ring. The case back shows scuffs from wear.

The present example, Ref. 6236 is one of the major models of the Dato-Compax series. It is one of the most complicated references that Rolex ever produced.
