Arguably the greatest sporting model produced by Patek Philippe, the Nautilus has become one of the company's most iconic wristwatches. The first Nautilus timepiece appeared in 1976 and was created by the watch designer Gerald Genta. The design of the sporty Nautilus was inspired by sea vessels and their portholes in particular.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the model, Patek Philippe launched a new Nautilus range on October 12th, 2006. The present lot, Ref. 5711, is part of that collection.
