• gilt metal three quarter plate movement, bi-metallic compensation balance, gold cuvette • white enamel dial, four subsidiary dials indicating phases and ages of the moon, combined with constant seconds, day, date and months calibrated for leap year, slide repeat, the back centered with decoration representing the Order of the Star of India, comprising a diamond-set gold star, framed by the motto "Heaven's Light our Guide" against turquoise enamel, further rung by a rose-cut diamond-set starbust, the surround embellished with the collar of the Order of India composed of florets and ribbon tied leafage, centered by the British Imperial Crown at 6 o'clock, the reverse decorated en-suite, the demi-hunter lid with translucent blue enamel chapter ring heighted by gold Roman numerals, bordered by rose-cut diamonds • the case hallmarked, London 1884 and stamped with casemaker's mark J.W., the dial and movement signed Marcks & Co., Ltd, Bombay & Poona
Condition
A watch of superior quality in terms of decoration and weight. the calendar settings are working with the exception of the date which does not seem to advance, the watch is striking in phase, the movement is in going order but would probably benefit from a clean,
case, insignificant losses to enamel flowers on either side, some minor oxidation to the blue enamel surround and one small chip this is located on the ring that has the motto. some scratches to the case, highly reccomend
