- A FINE SILVER QUARTER REPEATING PAIR CASED VERGE WATCH MADE FOR THE DUTCH MARKET CIRCA 1720

• gilt verge movement, fusee and chain, pierced and engraved balance bridge, split Egyptian pillars, quarter repeat • white enamel dial, Roman numerals, arcaded chaper ring • inner case pierced and engraved with scrolls inhabited by birds, snakes, and dogs, outer case pierced with graduating rondels, centered by an engraved hand clasping a ring above the inscription Sheriff of Nottingham • movement signed
Condition
The balance does oscillate when the watch is wound and the quarter repeat function does operate when activated, but the movement will need to be cleaned and overhauled. The dial has a repair mark to the upper right side of the center arbor and a few hairlines extending from the center. Both the inner and outer cases are in well-preserved condition with only light scratches.
