- A GOLD QUARTER REPEATING AUTOMATON VERGE WATCHCIRCA 1820
- diameter 55 mm
• gilt full plate verge movement, pierced and engraved balance bridge • signed gilt metal cuvette • gilt chased and engraved dial with cornucopia, eccentric dial, white enamel cartouches with painted Roman numerals, aperture above the dial with Father Time, two further figures appear to the sides to strike the hours and quarters • engine-turned case with milled band
Condition
The movement is not running, the balance will rotate. The striking mechanism is not operating correctly and requires restoration. The dial will some cracks to the enamel cartouches, the automaton figure are not fully appearing from behind the pillars. The case is worn and there are indentations to the band.
