Catalogue Note

The very unusual biblical scene on the back of this watch showing Adam and Eve, Jesus and the Apostles is highly remarkable from its execution. It features a central rotating disc with a serpent, the highly symbolic figure in the biblical story of Adam and Eve and original sin, surrounded on an outer chapter by all the apostles. The central scene of Adam and Eve reminds us of the link between the Old and the New Testament in the Bible. Also the words 'Avenue de Jesus au Monde' indicate very clearly that this watch was most probably ordered on special request by a very important figure from the clergy.
