- oil on canvas laid on board
- 59.9 by 93cm, 23 1/2 by 36 1/2 in.
Condition
The frame obscues the signature and approximately 5cm of canvas from the left hand edge. The canvas has been cut down and laid on cardboard which is slightly warped. The paint surface is dirty with a layer of discoloured varnish and spots of staining. There are some surface scratches in places and evidence of some paint abrasion along the inner frame edge. There are some losses to the very edges of the canvas which are obscured by the frame. UV light reveals restoration and some spots of re-touching to the clouds. There are a few small nicks to the edge of the canvas. The work would benefit from cleaning by a professional restorer. Held in a gold painted wood and moulded plaster frame.
