buste de jeune fille vêtue d'une tunique attachée sur l'épaule gauche et laissant le sein droit nu. La tête est tournée vers la droite, les yeux légèrement baissés et le regard en coin. Elle est coiffée d'un fichu noué sur le côté droit et orné d'un bouquet de fleurs.

Good condition overall with some minor wear to the surface and some minor surface abraison consistent with age and handling. A few minor chips to the edges of the bust and a small dent to the nose tip. Very attractive and rare sculpture.

'L'Eté figurée par une jeune fille coiffée en cheveux couverts d'un mouchoir, la gorge en partie recouverte d'une draperie...'
C'est en 1785 que Houdon présente la statue en marbre grandeur nature pour faire pendant à 'la Frileuse'. On connaît un buste en marbre et une version en plâtre plus grande dans une collection privée (Angleterre). Un buste en terre cuite a figuré à la vente Houdon, le 8 octobre 1795, n° 94.
