Catalogue Note
The artist has filled the work with images that correspond to the verses in Hebrew above them. These motifs include the Binding of Isaac and Jacob's Ladder, with the verse above it "Jacob laid down and dreamt and saw angels ascending and descending". The lower register also shows the two spies who brought the fruit of the Land of Israel back to the Jews in the Desert; above them is the text "and they bore it upon a pole between two of them". The upper and lower edges of the work are filled with the signs of the zodiac and their corresponding months inscribed above them.
The work is dated (5) 694 in Hebrew and is signed by Aaron, son of Shalom Dov in the lower left corner.
