Catalogue Note

Sylvia Porter (1913-1991) was a renowned financial journalist who, as a woman forging her career in the 1930s, was a trailblazer in her field.  Eventually becoming syndicated, she wrote a daily column appearing in over 400 newspapers, authored several best-selling books, and began her own magazine, Sylvia Porter's Personal Finance.  The present bracelet was a gift from her husband, G. Sumner Collins, who commissioned it for her from David Webb.
