18 Karat Gold, Colored Stone, Diamond and Satin Evening Bag, Cartier, Paris, Circa 1925

The bag and handles composed of black satin, the gold clasp set with sugarloaf cabochon emeralds and rubies, alternating with rose-cut diamonds, signed Cartier, Paris, Londres, New York, with workshop and French assay marks.

Set with 9 emeralds, 18 rubies and 32 rose-cut diamonds. Rubies of deep purplish red and pinkish red. Emeralds of pale bluish green, moderately included, one is heavily chipped. Rubies and emeralds with surface abrasion to the facets. Diamonds have nice brilliance. Gold is oxidized in places and shows some undulation on the inisde of the frame. Black satin is lightly soiled with a couple of moderate spots and is coming off the frame in one corner. The bag could benefit from a professional cleaning. All of the issues are minor however and the bag is in overall good condition.
