An Italian blue and white lacquered and parcel-gilt centre table, Tuscan late 18th century

with a square mottled white marble top above a frieze with an alternating band of beaded roundels centred by a patera interposed by husks within a beaded panel above a guilloche band enclosing flowerheads, each stile with a lion mask suspending an acanthus leaf in its jaws on fluted tapering legs surmounted by a further lion mask on toupie feet

In overall very good conserved condition and can be placed immediately.The marble top has some old very minor marks, chips and scratches especially along the edge but these do not detract from the piece. The base also has some old very minor hairline construction cracks at joints but these are hardly noticeable and are normal with age and usage and can be left. There is a piece of gilded moulding at the top of one leg which is a little loose but can easily be reglued. Attractive detail to carving. The toupie feet are probably later and ungilded. There are some small holes drillled in the wooden battens beneath the top.
