Description
- Beech
each back decorated with floral srays, the pierced top-and seat-rail carved with rocaille and foliage on cabriole legs joined by stretchers
Condition
In overall good conserved condition. A most attractive set. This is a matched set of two pairs of similar chairs with slight variations in carving and size. Two of the chairs have H-form stretchers. Joints sound and sturdy. Old minor marks, chips commensurate with age and use. Hairline construction cracks at joints which can easily be filled or left. A scroll is missing from the rear right foot of one which can easily be recarved. Very attractive detail to painted decoration. All the chairs have been reblocked. On the pair with stretchers both have restored breaks to a rear leg which would benefit from some attention.
