Description

  • pine, poplar, gilt-metal
  • each cabinet: 30.5cm high, 30cm wide, 29cm deep; 1ft., 1ft., 111/2; each stand: 63.5cm high, 39cm wide; 36.5cm deep; 2ft 1., 1ft 31/4, 1ft 21/4.
the cabinets decorated with chinoiserie figures in landscapes opening to reveal a red lacquered interior with butterflies, rockwork and foliage on the inside of the doors, enclosing two long and five short drawers with foliage and figures, the cabinets decorated on the backs to form a centrepiece, the stand with a pierced frieze on cabriole legs joined by an x-form stretcher on scrolled feet; gilding and silvering on stands refreshed

Condition

In overall good conserved condition. Old minor marks, chips and scratches commensurate with age and usage. Some retouching to the lacquer. The mounts are possibly later. Very attractive detail to lacquer decoration.
