8-inch enamel dial with annular date and signed Eardley Norton, London, on a brass surround, the arch with enamel subsidiary dials for music & strike/silent, tune selection and, in Russian, loud/soft, the substantial three train fusee and chain movement with anchor escapement, striking ting-tang quarters on two bells and playing one of six tunes every two hours on a carrilon of ten bells with fourteen hammers, the backplate signed Gravell & Tolkien, Successors to, Eardley Norton, London, and numbered on the top edge of the backplate 3766, the case with altered domed cresting and gilt finials, gilt-brass Corinthian columns, side handles, pierced frets and foliate scroll feet

Old repair around right winding hole, other minor hair cracks, subsidiary dials with minor chips to centres and with other scratches and marks. Movement is complete and will just run at time of cataloguing but needs a clean. Case is lacking mask around dial, cracks to base around movement fixings, later movement supporting brackets, altered dome cresting is loose, other losses, cracks and marks throughout, the front wioth later presentation plaque dated 1955.
