Description

  • silver, glass
the shaped circular base applied with two coats-of-arms below a female equestrian figure and a huntsman with hound, central foliate stem rising to a dish holder, struck: '12 LÖTH' and stamped: '9336'

Condition

Construction rather light and condition acceptable, but one frond or plant is missing from the base between the horse and the greyhound. There is a split on one of the supports which appears to be a manufacturing fault rather than damage. Top of dish holder is a little crushed and split; dish missing.

Catalogue Note

The arms are those of Samuel Freicherr von Richthofen, who from 1913 was Graf von Richthofen-Seichau (1846-1917), a colonel in the Prussian Army and Knight of the Order of St. John. In 1871 he married Helene von Koschembahr (1850-1903). (Genealogisches Handbuch des Adels, Bond VII-1978, p. 306)
