Catalogue Note

The London firm of Donald Ross had premises in Soho during the third quarter of the 19th century. Ross appears to have made a speciality of the dotted marquetry trellis popularised by Garnier and Sené in 18th century Paris. The firm exhibited at the Great Exhibition of 1851 in London.

For a discussion on Ross see Christopher Payne, Nineteenth Century European Furniture, 1981, p. 315.
