Description
- beech, marble
- each 93.5cm. high, 151cm. wide; 3ft. ¾in., 4ft. 11½in.
each with a serpentine mottled peach and white marble top above a serpentine frieze on cabriole legs terminating in inward scrolled feet, the whole carved with flowers, leaves and rocaille on a stippled ground
Condition
in overall good conserved condition. Both marble are later and have been restored. The colour overall is slightly darker and more attractive than in the catalogue photograph, with more contrast between the green painting and the parcel gilding. Very attractive carving. There are some minor chips to the decoration which can easily be touched up. The tables are slightly dirty and would benefit from a light clean which would bring out the colour of the painting and gilding. There are some hairline construction cracks at the joint consistent with age and use which can easily be filled or left. There is evidence of old very minor worm which appears to be no longer active. The rear left foot of one has been restored but this would benefit from some further attention. On the other table there is some minor worm damage to the left frieze part of which is missing and has become detached approx. 9cm long and also at the side of the front left leg approx. 4cm long which can be restored. There are also some very minor chips to the carving on the same table that can easily be restored. Please note the tables are 71cm. deep.
