A pair of Italian silvered and gilt-metal frames with associated silk embroidered floral panels late 17th/early 18th century

each of squared form, the frame cast with a band of swags and spirals within a cavetto border with trelliswork enclosing flowerheads with an acanthus leaf at the angles, the embroidered panels finely worked in polychrome silk threads with a vase, one with lion handles, the other with bird handles, with delicate arrangements of flowers including irises, tulips and carnations, incorporating insects, with a narrow banded four-sided outer border with scrolling trail of flowers and fruit, on a caramel satin ground

Some minor rubbing to the gilt-metal and minor discolouration to silvered metal. The spiral ribbon twist border slightly warped on top of one, but this is hardly noticeable. Some minor dents to the metal commensurate with age and use. In overall good original condition. Embroidered panels in generally good overall condition, minor losses and repairs, especially to the browns, commensurate with age. Later edging to the inner border, visible as the dark lines. One panel dark in the centre, and the other with lion-handle vase with stains near the vase, which does not detract from the overall appearance. Charming subject with balanced composition and colour (bit faded).
