Condition
Gilding slightly darker more golden and much more attractive than in the catalogue photograph. Attractive detail to carving and good narrow size. There has been some refreshment to th apinted faux marbre top which has some very minor flaking to the paint and hairline cracks, commensurate with age and normal usage and do not detract from the piece. The female mask on the front shows signs of previous restoration, from the centre of the cheek to beneath the chin and there are some old minor restorations generally. There are also old minor chips to the gilding and evidence of old very minor worm which appears to be no longer active. There is evidence of some strengthening at the back of the carved sections of the frieze and the two front legs are also carved on the back, although the reverse of the legs are painted yellow as is normal for Italian furniture of this period. There is a crack in the bulbuous section of the front second leg from the right, which can easily be filled and touched up. In overall good conserved condition.
